The last week of January, students from Reagan Elementary, Tucker Elementary, Grimes Elementary, and Randall G. Lynch Middle School participated in King Arthur Flour’s “Learn, Bake, Share” program. A representative from King Arthur Flour joined the students and taught them the importance of learning how to bake bread from scratch and the value of sharing with those who are less fortunate.

The program, which is free for the students, includes instruction on how to bake bread, lessons about science, math, baking techniques, and time management, and a bag with recipes, ingredients, and utensils needed for students to bake their own bread at home. The bag included enough product for the students to make two loaves of bread: one for their family and one for the NWA Food Bank to distribute to the hungry. The students from the four schools baked a total 400 loaves that were donated to the NWA Food Bank.
