Letter of Thanks
Dear Kent,
Please thank everyone that gives and supports our Food Bank.
Each time they give, we see a smile reflected back in joy.
As we learned about so many children and “working poor” adults living in a “low place” one step from a homeless shelter motel in our area, our hearts are pulled to help all we can.
Imagine three small faces – looking out the window and waving at us daily – ages 7-11. They are not allowed to leave their room as their parents are at work. The meals we take up to them, leave at the door so they can come out just long enough to grab their bags, and the excitement when there is an extra bag of goodness -- fresh fruits and shelf stable milk – pure treats for them.
The single mom who works two jobs or even three to save every penny to “make a better life” for herself and her family. Every meal we hand that mother and child is another step to a better life.
I wish you could see a toothless excited dance and smile of a child when he learns what a fresh pineapple is or has his very own box of blueberries or strawberries or a true treat his home can rarely afford.
Thank you so much for allowing me and those that team with me to get to have this moment of joy daily. I hope those that give can realize what they really give is a chance for a better life to that single mom or that elderly person.
They give laughter and smiles to the child and they give blessings to those that get to see the food go into those hands in need.
With deepest thanks,
Sheila Staten
