Northwest Arkansas Food Bank received a $225,000 grant in December 2015 to assist with fleet capacity to better serve food insecure seniors and increase retail store donation pickups across the Food Bank’s 4-county service area. The grant – which was given to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank through the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Giving Program – will work to increase Sr. Mobile Pantry distribution and retail store donations to further the message of senior hunger and its impact on the community. The Northwest Arkansas Food bank will purchase two vehicles – one for Senior Mobile Pantry and one refrigerated truck to increase retail store pickups.

“The Walmart Foundation has been a vital part of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank’s fight against hunger. Grants like this one allows us to continue addressing hunger in Northwest Arkansas with better strategies for serving seniors and more capacity for our member agencies. This will increase service to clients due to additional retail store pickups while serving the children and families in our communities,” said Carrie Harlow, Northwest Arkansas Food Bank Director of Development.
