New Way of Ordering at the Food Bank
The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank has switched to a 100% online ordering system for our agencies. This system will enable the Food Bank and its agencies to more efficiently manage the movement of food from the food bank to those in need.
Online ordering is a shopping solution that connects the Food Banks’ real-time inventory with agency needs. The online ordering system will benefit the NWA Food Bank by increasing agency order fill rates, increasing flow through the warehouse and increasing visibility of available inventory. In addition to benefits for the Food Bank, this new online ordering system will provide benefits for our agencies. Before this system, many agencies would order items from our “Pick List” in advance of their appointment and by the time of their appointment, that item would no longer be in-stock. This system allows for the agency to have near real-time inventory availability information 24/7 and agencies can order product that is actually in stock. Agencies will no longer need to wait to receive the “Pick List” anymore as the online system will also be available for our agencies 24/7. This system also allows for easier ordering by providing detailed product information, online pictures of inventory, and the option to edit and print order. Agencies will also always be able to access their order history with just a click of a mouse.
By implementing this system, the NWA Food Bank, through member agencies, will be able to continue feeding the hungry in our area by the efficient movement of food to those in need.
