Tyson, a longtime partner of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, has provided $49,500 to purchase a new refrigerated truck for the Senior Mobile Pantry program offered by the food bank. Senior Mobile Pantry operates once a week and distributes food to low income senior citizens in Bentonville, Elkins, Lowell and Fayetteville. Most of the food that is provided at this time is nonperishable items such as rice, pasta, cereal, soups and other canned meals, juice and bread. Because of a lack of a way to transport perishable items, seniors are not getting the fruits, vegetables and protein they need to stay healthy and active.

Until now. Generously funded through Tyson Foods, the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank will purchase a small refrigerated truck to transport healthful items such as fruits and vegetables and also frozen protein, both of which is critical to senior health. Seniors face a myriad of challenges when it comes to protecting themselves from food insecurity. Challenges such as limited mobility, lack of transportation and health problems all prove the need for the Senior Mobile Pantry. The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank is committed to ending senior hunger and hunger as a whole in Northwest Arkansas with the help from Tyson and other members of the community.

Thank you, Tyson!
